چکیده

1 The robust isothermal theorem The Moran process on graphs is the standard model for population structure in evolutionary dynamics.1, 2 The process is defined for a directed, weighted graph, G ≡ Gn = (Vn,Wn), where V ≡ Vn := JnK and W ≡ Wn := [wij] is a stochastic matrix of edge weights. The process, denoted by Xt, is Markovian with state space 2 , where each Xt is the subset of V consisting of all the vertices occupied by mutants at time t. At time 0 a mutant is placed at one of the vertices uniformly at random or formally,

Universality of fixation probabilities in randomly structured populations

The stage of evolution is the population of reproducing individuals. The structure of the population is known to affect the dynamics and outcome of evolutionary processes, but analytical results for generic random structures have been lacking. The most general result so far, the isothermal theorem, assumes the propensity for change in each position is exactly the same, but realistic biological ...

Counterintuitive properties of the fixation time in network-structured populations

Evolutionary dynamics on graphs can lead to many interesting and counterintuitive findings. We study the Moran process, a discrete time birth-death process, that describes the invasion of a mutant type into a population of wild-type individuals. Remarkably, the fixation probability of a single mutant is the same on all regular networks. But non-regular networks can increase or decrease the fixa...

Selection and drift in subdivided populations: a straightforward method for deriving diffusion approximations and applications involving dominance, selfing and local extinctions.

Population structure affects the relative influence of selection and drift on the change in allele frequencies. Several models have been proposed recently, using diffusion approximations to calculate fixation probabilities, fixation times, and equilibrium properties of subdivided populations. We propose here a simple method to construct diffusion approximations in structured populations; it rel...

Evolutionary Dynamics on Graphs - the Effect of Graph Structure and Initial Placement on Mutant Spread

We study the stochastic birth-death process in a finite and structured population and analyze how the fixation probability of a mutant depends on its initial placement. In particular, we study how the fixation probability depends on the degree of the vertex where the mutant is introduced, and which vertices are its neighbours. We find that within a fixed graph, the fixation probability of a mut...

Heuristic Approach for Specially Structured Two Stage Flow Shop Scheduling to Minimize the Rental Cost, Processing Time, Set Up Time Are Associated with Their Probabilities Including Transportation Time and Job Weightage

The present paper is an attempt to develop a new heuristic algorithm, find the optimal sequence to minimize the utilization time of the machines and hence their rental cost for two stage specially structured flow shop scheduling under specified rental policy in which processing times and set up time are associated with their respective probabilities including transportation time. Further jo...
